Former Tennessee pitcher Chase Dollander was named Double-A Eastern League Player of the Week after a standout performance on the mound for the Hartford Yard Goats last weekend.

Dollander shares the Eastern League weekly honor with Portland Sea Dogs second baseman/centerfielder Kristian Campbell as the announcement was made on Monday.

Dollander’s lone starting appearance this week came on Saturday night as he took the mound on the road against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The former Vol was locked into the action as he only allowed two hits in six scoreless innings of work. Dollander retired six via the strikeout and only walked one during the performance.

The right-hander’s work on the mound Saturday night also helps drop his August ERA to just 0.82 with two starts under his belt. Dollander gave up three hits and one run while striking out six during a five-inning showing against the Reading Fightin Phils on Aug. 4.

Saturday’s dominant contest was only his fourth with the Yard Goats as Dollander was called up to Double-A from the Spokane Indians on July 24.

Dollander has a combined 4-1 record and a 2.62 ERA with the Indians and Yard Goats so far this season.

During his time with the Indians this summer, Dollander had the opportunity to be the starting pitcher for the National League in the All-Star Futures game this past July. Dollander put up a scoreless inning of work with one hit and one walk during the opening frame.

Dollander was taken from Tennessee with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and signed with the Colorado Rockies organization in July 2023.

The Georgia Southern transfer appeared in 33 games for the Vols over two seasons with 31 starts, tallying a 3.64 ERA in 168 innings during his time as a Vol. Dollander finished his time at Tennessee with a 17-6 overall record.
