Uros Plavsic is now the third Olympic medalist in Tennessee men’s basketball program history.
Plavsic received his bronze medal after Serbia defeated Germany by a score of 93-83 in the third-place game on Saturday morning.
While Plavsic did not play in Saturday’s game, the former Vol did record a quick run during Serbia’s opening game against Puerto Rico.
Plavsic is now the third Olympian medalist in Tennessee basketball program history. The 7-foot-1 center joins Ernie Grunfeld with the United States 1976 squad and Allan Houston with the United States 2000 squad as the only three to do so. Plavsic is the first to do it representing a country besides the United States.
The Americans’ 2024 team will face off against France at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday in the Gold-Silver medal game.

Plavsic was born in Cacak, Serbia, and grew up in Ivanjica, Serbia. Plavsic first moved to the United States in 2017 and graduated from Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga, TN. Plavsic spent his first collegiate season at Arizona State before transferring to Tennessee from 2019 to 2023.
Plavsic averaged 3.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and a .573 field goal percentage across his four seasons at Tennessee. Plavsic played in 34 or more games in his final two seasons with Tennessee and averaged 4.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, and a .636 field goal percentage during his final season in 2022-2023.
Following his time at Tennessee, Plavsic went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft but did play with Atlanta’s summer league team.
