Tennessee is one of the two left standing in the recruitment of a highly-touted defensive back.

Class of 2025 cornerback Onis Konanbanny has cut his list down to Tennessee and Florida State, according to a report from Rivals on Sunday evening.

Originally from the UK, Konanbanny plays his prep ball for Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, South Carolina. Konanbanny grew up playing soccer in France and London before moving to the United States in 2022. The multi-sport athlete has also been successful running track at the prep level, highlighting his natural athleticism.

Konanbanny is listed as a three-star prospect on On3 and 247sports but has a four-star ranking on ESPN and Rivals. According to 247’s composite rankings, Konanbany lands as the No. 298 prospect in the class, the No. 29 cornerback, and the No. 4 player from the state of South Carolina.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback has been to Tennessee five times this spring including a spring practice in April, 865 Live in May, a 7-on-7 tournament in early June, a visit in late June, and a trip to Knoxville during last weekend. Konanbanny also took visits to LSU, Utah, and North Carolina during his recruitment.

There’s no surprise that Tennessee has been pushing to land Konanbanny as the young prospect’s natural athleticism and multi-sport background have always been prioritized traits by Josh Heupel’s staff. Heupel and his team will now need to make one final push to land a commitment from the UK native.

Tennessee has been red hot on the recruiting trail this summer with 10 commitments since the start of June including two this past weekend. The Vols landed a commitment from four-star safety Lagonza Hayward on Saturday before flipping an Oregon commitment from four-star tight end Da’Saahn Brame on Sunday. The two weekend moves have pushed Tennessee into a consensus Top 10 recruiting class with a high ranking from 247sports at No. 5 in the nation.
