Tennessee baseball signee Anson Seibert will make it to campus and not sign professionally with the Detroit Tigers, the Johnson County Post first reported.

The Tigers selected Seibert, top rated signee in Tennessee baseball’s highly touted 2024 signing class, in the 16th round of the 2024 MLB Draft last week. However, the right-handed pitcher still plans on playing college baseball at Tennessee while postponing his professional career.

A 6-foot-8, 220-pound pitcher, Seibert ranks as the No. 35 overall player and No. 8 right-handed pitcher in the 2024 recruiting cycle according to Perfect Game. Between Seibert and right-handed pitcher Tegan Kuhns, two top 50 prep pitchers will make it to campus for Tony Vitello and the Vols.

Seibert boasts an elite mid to upper 90s fastball and will have an opportunity to earn a role in Tennessee’s pitching staff as a freshman. The Overland, Kansas native is older for his grade and will be eligible for the MLB Draft again after his sophomore season at Tennessee.

The Vols boded well during the MLB Draft with the vast majority of their highly touted transfer class expected to make it to campus instead of starting their professional careers. Only infielders Ty Southisene (fourth round to the Chicago Cubs) and Trey Snyder (fifth round to the New York Mets) as well as outfielder Lucas Ramirez (17th round to Los Angeles Angels) are expected to not make it to campus.

That means Tennessee will bring 10 top 200 recruits nationally to campus this fall including Seibert, Kuhns, Levi Clark and Arnold Abernathy— all of which were considered very real risks entering the draft.
