Tennessee football landed its second commitment in the last eight days and the eighth commit since the start of June on Saturday afternoon when four-star Georgia linebacker Christian Gass committed to the Vols over Georgia and Southern Cal.
It was the second straight Saturday that Tennessee has landed a commitment and the Vols have a very real chance to make it three straight Saturdays with a commitment as four-star safety Lagonza Hayward is announcing his college commitment next Saturday, July 27.
But could Tennessee add another commit before next Saturday? Four-star quarterback commit George MacIntyre hinted at the Vols landing an unexpected commitment on Saturday afternoon.
“Surprise commit coming soon,” MacIntyre posted on X.
Surprise commit coming soon 👀
— George MacIntyre (@GeorgeMacIntyr6) July 20, 2024
MacIntyre is the highest rated commit in Tennessee football’s 2025 recruiting class. Due to that and the fact that he was one of the first to commit to the Vols in the 2025 cycle back in January, MacIntyre is the leader of Tennessee’s recruiting class.
So who could MacIntyre be talking about?
A number of Tennessee targets have already announced upcoming commitment dates. Hayward is announcing on July 27, four-star offensive tackle Juan Gaston is announcing on Aug. 2, four-star interior offensive lineman Josh Petty is announcing on Aug. 12 and five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr is announcing on Aug. 17.
More From RTI: Where Tennessee’s Recruiting Class Ranks After Landing Jadon Perlotte
One potential Tennessee commitment is linebacker Jadon Perlotte. The four-star linebacker doesn’t currently have a commitment date because he’s already committed to Georgia. But after committing to Georgia in December of 2022, Perlotte has taken a number of visits in recent months including official visits to Alabama, Miami and Tennessee as well as Georgia earlier this summer.
Perlotte ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 165 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Buford native ranks as the No. 20 linebacker and the No. 21 player in the state of Georgia in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
Another potential option is four-star tight end De’Saahn Brame who is currently committed to Oregon. Brame committed to the Ducks over Tennessee last month but the Vols have stayed hard after Brame and two recruiting experts have predicted a flip.
Brame ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 112 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Derby native also ranks as the No. 4 player in the state of Kansas and the No. 5 tight end in the country in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
Flipping Perlotte or Brame would be a major win for Josh Heupel and his staff on the recruiting trail. It’s uncertain who MacIntyre is referring to but Perlotte and Brame are two potential options.
