Another program record has been broken by the 2024 Tennessee baseball team.

While all of Tennessee’s program records came on the field this season, Tony Vitello’s group wraps up the season with an off-the-field record on Sunday night during the 2024 MLB Draft.

Tennessee watched as four players from the National Championship team were drafted on Sunday (First-Year Player Draft), “representing the most players selected through the first two rounds of any draft in program history,” according to UT Athletics.

Tennessee’s four picks were also more than any other college baseball program through the first two rounds.

More From RTI: What Tony Vitello Said On MLB Network About Tennessee Players Selected In MLB Draft

Tennessee veterans Christian Moore and Blake Burke were the first two Volunteers off the board with the Angels taking Moore at No. 8 and the Brewers selecting Burke at No. 34. Burke’s selection position was a pleasant surprise to see for a player who has worked tirelessly at his craft and wasn’t projected at that spot.

The Vols then saw infielder Billy Amick taken by the Twins with the 60th overall pick and the World Champion Rangers selecting outfielder Dylan Dreiling with the 65th overall pick. Dreiling was the final pick of the second round.

Moore’s selection by the Angles also breaks a Tony Vitello-era record as he became the highest-drafted Tennessee player since 2018 (Vitello’s start at UT).

Vitello took part in the main television panel of analysts and was at the desk when Moore’s name was called.
