After winning its first ever National Championship, Tennessee baseball and head coach Tony Vitello quickly went back to work in the transfer portal looking to bolster its roster ahead of the 2025 season.
Transfer portal player rankings can be difficult to find in college baseball but the good folks at 64Analytics publicly released their rankings of the top 100 players in the transfer portal earlier this week.
Tennessee baseball is well represented on the list. The Vols currently have five commits in the transfer portal at the moment and three of those commits landed on the list. Not only did three of those players land on the list, but all three ranked in the top 15.
Ole Miss transfer third baseman Andrew Fischer ranks as the No. 2 player in the transfer portal while Louisville transfer middle infielder Gavin Kilen ranks as the No. 5 player and Ole Miss left-handed pitcher Liam Doyle ranks as the No. 14 player in the portal.
Tennessee’s two other transfer portal commits, Kennesaw State RHP Tanner Franklin and Niagara first baseman Eric Rataczak, neither rank in 64Analytics top 100 transfers.
Fischer was one of the most sought after bats in the portal after hitting .285 with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs in his sophomore season in Oxford. The left-handed bat hit .289 with 11 home runs, 13 doubles and 33 RBIs in his freshman season at Duke. A power hitting third baseman, Fischer committed to the Vols over Florida.

Kilen hit .330 with nine home runs, 35 extra-base hits and 41 RBIs last season at Louisville. The left-handed hitter flashed power last season at Louisville but also displayed incredibly impressive bat to ball skills, striking out in just 9% of his at-bats.
The Louisville transfer played both shortstop and second base last season and chose Tennessee in the transfer portal over Florida and LSU.
Doyle was Ole Miss’ Saturday starter a season ago where he posted a 3-4 record, 5.73 ERA and 1.25 WHIP last season. Doyle turned in fantastic strikeout numbers last season, totaling 84 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched. The New Hampshire native committed to the Vols over Florida.
Speaking of Florida, Tennessee baseball recruiting target and former Florida left-handed pitcher Cade Fisher ranks as 64Analytics’ No. 1 player in the transfer portal. Fisher visited Tennessee over the weekend and has a number of big time suitors in the portal.
Tennessee baseball is looking to round out its roster in the transfer portal as they’re expected to lose a number of key players to this weekend’s MLB Draft.
