Tennessee basketball announced a handful of internal staff promotions on Wednesday morning.

Tennessee promoted Director of Player Development Bryan Lentz as well as Director of Recruiting Lucas Campbell to assistant coach positions. NCAA rules changed last July allowing colleges to have five assistant coaches instead of three. Lentz and Campbell will fill those two positions.

Former graduate assistant Riley Collins is being promoted to the Vols’ Assistant Director of Player Development spot.

Lentz, Campbell, Collins and Director of Video and Analytics Luke Schapker have all had major roles in the success of Tennessee basketball from support staff spots in recent years.

Lentz joined Barnes’ staff in Knoxville following the 2017-18 season and is entering his seventh season on the Vols’ staff. A fellow Hickory, North Carolina native, Lentz played his college basketball at Lenoir-Rhyne and also spent four seasons on Barnes’ staff at Texas.

The 47-year old assistant coach works closely with Tennessee’s big men alongside fellow assistant coach Gregg Polinsky.

Campbell has spent the last two seasons on Tennessee’s staff as Director of Recruiting. The young assistant coach has been a staple of Tennessee’s program under Barnes. Campbell was a walk-on for the Vols from 2015-19 before spending the next two seasons as a graduate assistant.

A 27-year old Knoxville native, Campbell spent one season as the Director of Basketball Operations at ETSU before returning to Tennessee as a Director of Recruiting.

Collins spent the last two seasons as a graduate assistant after spending two years working for Division III Marymount University in Virginia. A New Jersey native, Collins played his college basketball Division III Drew University where he was a four-time All-Conference guard.

Barnes’ complete coaching staff includes associate head coach Justin Gainey, assistant coaches Rod Clark, Gregg Polinsky, Bryan Lentz and Lucas Campbell as well as Director of Men’s Basketball Sports Performance Garrett Mendenwald. Support staff members include Collins, Schapker, Director of Basketball Operations Mary-Carter Eggert, Athletic Trainer Chad Newman and graduate assistant Scott Daughtry and David Kasanganay.
