Tennessee Football target Christian Gass will announce his collegiate decision later this summer.

On3 Sports’ Chad Simmons reported on Wednesday afternoon that Gass’s announcement will officially come on July 20th as he chooses between Southern California, Georgia, and Tennessee.

Gass holds a three-star ranking from Rivals and 247 Sports and a four-star ranking from On3 Sports and ESPN. The 2025 linebacker ranks as the No. 253 player overall, the No. 29 linebacker in the class, and the No. 33 player from the state of Georgia according to 247’s Composite rankings.

Gass’s list narrowed down to Tennessee, Georgia, and USC after a handful of visits in the early portion of the summer. Gass visited a trio of SEC programs – Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee – in the month of March before taking a visit to Florida in late May. Gass took official visits to Southern Cal, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee in the month of June in that order.

Standing at 6-foot-2.5, 215 pounds, Gass is also a multi-sport athlete on his feet. According to 247, Gass “posted an 11.55 in the 100-meter dash and a 23.96 in the 200-meter dash” as just a sophomore in high school. Gass’s speed and athleticism helped him tally 68 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and two sacks during his 2023 season at Eastside High School in Covington, Georgia.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine indicates a possible two-team race after the final three of Tennessee, Georgia, and USC was reported by Simmons on Wednesday. On3’s charts have Florida in the lead (25.7 percent) followed by Georgia (18.1 percent), Tennessee (15.5 percent), and Kentucky (12.9 percent). If On3’s predictions are on track, it could potentially be down to Georgia and Tennessee with Florida and Kentucky dropping out. Southern Cal is back at 9.8 percent.

That all being said, though, there doesn’t seem to be an overwhelming indication as to where Gass will land when he makes his decision on July 20. Tennessee and assistant coach Mike Ekeler have fought hard to make an impression on Gass and his family and have at least made it to the final three because of it.

We’ll just have to wait and see what Gass decides to do at the end of the month.

Tennessee currently has 16 commits in their 11th-ranked 2025 class according to 247’s team rankings, headlined by five-star quarterback George MacIntyre and five/four-star offensive tackle Douglas Utu.

Tennessee and Josh Heupel have raised the recruiting temperature this summer with six total commitments in June alone ranging from four-star in-state OL Nic Moore to three-star defensive lineman Charles House.
