Former Tennessee guard Dalton Knecht’s first action as an NBA player is right around the corner.
As confirmed by Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick on Tuesday, Knecht will be playing in both the NBA’s California Classic and the NBA Summer League during the month of July.
The California Classic will take place in San Francisco from July 6-10 while the NBA 2K25 Summer League will follow that from Las Vegas July 12-22.
“I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, just getting out on the court with all the guys,” Knecht said about the upcoming summer games during the Lakers’ introductory press conference. “The first couple of days learning from JJ. Go to the summer league, hopefully go win that, and then just go on and get the regular season started.”
Knecht and the Lakers will have games on Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday during the California Classic. Saturday’s game against the Sacramento Kings will open all summer league action at 4:30 p.m. ET, followed by a game against the Golden State Warriors at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Former Tennessee guard Santiago Vescovi will play with the Warriors’ Summer League team during the California Classic, setting up a matchup between the former Tennessee teammates in San Francisco.
Knecht and the Lakers will then finish up the California Classic with a game against the Miami Heat at 7:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday night.

The Lakers will head to Las Vegas following the California Classic for the NBA 2K25 Summer League from July 12-22. Knecht and the Lakers will have four scheduled games before tournament play begins on Saturday, July 20.
