No. 1 Tennessee claimed the first National Championship in Vol Baseball history on Monday night as the first overall No. 1 seed to win the College World Series since 1999 with Miami. The Vols capped off a truly dominant season by winning two straight games in a 2-1 series win over Texas A&M over the weekend in Omaha.
Sanders Jr. is a major priority for Tennessee as one of the top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class.
247 Sports’ Composite rankings have Sanders as the No. 2 overall player in the class, the top offensive tackle in the class, and the top-ranked player from the state of North Carolina. Sanders was recently in Knoxville for a recruiting visit on June 14 but has been to Tennessee on previous occasions as one of the Vols’ top targets. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound prospect was also in Knoxville for Tennessee’s game against Georgia last season and during the Orange & White game in the spring.
On3 Sports’ Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Tennessee the lead in the race at 28.8 percent, followed by Georgia at 18.3 percent, Ohio State at 13.3 percent, and Clemson at 10.1 percent. Sanders’ lone Crystal Ball prediction from 247 Sports points in the direction of Clemson from a prediction on March 27 courtesy of national recruiting analyst Tom Loy.
During his June visit to Tennessee, Sanders took pictures with five-star quarterback George MacIntyre, the Vols’ top commit in the class.
