Tennessee landed a blue-chip prospect to their 2025 recruiting class on Monday afternoon with a commitment from Douglas Utu.

The 6-foot-4, 317-pound offensive lineman committed to Tennessee on Monday after a productive visit to Rocky Top over the weekend. Utu is a soon-to-be four-year starting offensive lineman for Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, highlighting the vast experience that he has collected en route to Tennessee.

Utu ranks as a four-star player according to 247 Sports’ Composite rankings but does have a couple of five-star ratings to his name. 247 Sports and On3 Sports have Utu as a four-star prospect while ESPN and Rivals have Utu as a five-star recruit. Rivals is the highest on Utu with a No. 8 overall individual ranking while ESPN has him as the No. 11 player in the class of 2025.

Despite some variation in the rankings, there’s no question that Utu is one of the top players in the entire recruiting cycle and has the potential to be the top player from this U.T. class.

Utu is now the second highest-rated player in Tennessee’s class according to 247 Sports while topping the list according to Rivals. With an addition such as that, there was a certainty that Tennessee was going to climb up the team recruiting rankings.
