John Wilkerson, the longtime Voice of Tennessee Baseball for the Vol Network, finally had the chance to make what can only be imagined as his dream call on Monday night.
The call of Tennessee’s first College World Series championship in program history:
“The pitch, swing and a miss! That’s the ballgame! How about that! The Aggies score two in the ninth but the Volunteers – Tennessee – the climb is complete! They have reached the summit! The Volunteers are the very best in college baseball! And the championship flag has been planted on Rocky Top.”
There’s more to the call – 42 more seconds, to be exact. But we won’t ruin the enjoyment of the first listen fully. Because it’s that good.

No. 1 Tennessee defeated No. 3 Texas A&M by a score of 6-5 on Monday night in Game 3 of the Men’s College World Series Championship. The title is Tennessee’s first in program history as the Vols become the first overall No. 1 seed to win the championship since Miami in 1999.
Tennessee outfielder Dylan Dreiling won the College World Series MVP Award after the game as he became the first player in CWS history to hit a home run in all three games. Dreiling hit a two-run bomb in the seventh inning in all three, amazingly enough.
Here’s a look at how the final pitch shook out on television:
