Social Media reacts to Tennessee punching its ticket to the College World Series finals on Wednesday night.

The Tennessee Volunteers have punched their ticket to the 2024 Men’s College World Series with a drama-free win over Florida State on Wednesday afternoon in Omaha. The Vols will now await the winner of Texas A&M-Florida as their opponent coming up in the best-of-three series this weekend.

The Vols exploded out of the gates with three runs in the top of the first inning followed by one in the second, one in the fourth, one in the seventh, and one in the ninth. Blake Burke knocked his 20th home run out of the park in the final frame of Wednesday’s game, becoming the fifth Tennessee player to actively hit 20 or more home runs this season.

While Tennessee was scoring runs at the plate, Vols starting pitcher Zander Sechrist was holding it down on the mound. Sechrist threw six scoreless innings before letting up a pair of solo shots in the seventh, turning the ball over to Kirby Connell and Nate Snead who closed out the game without allowing a run.

Tennessee earned their victory with a drama-free game on Wednesday but now look ahead to the game’s final task – winning the National Championship. Stay tuned to Rocky Top Insider for more on Tennessee’s SEC opponent in the College World Series finals.
