Peyton Manning and Tom Brady worked hard to hide their friendships during the peak of the Manning-Brady rivalry that took over the NFL from 2001 to 2015.
While the two legendary quarterbacks had their fair share of battles on the gridiron over the years, the Manning and Brady fans have maybe had even more of a battle when debating their favorite quarterbacks.
That’s why it was important for Manning and Brady to hide the truth a little, if you will.
While making a surprise appearance at Tom Brady’s New England Patriots Hall of Fame ceremony on Wednesday, Manning told a funny story of a secret workout with Brady during the heyday of the rivalry.
That workout, coincidentally enough, took place in the Volunteer State.
“Tom’s coming off an MVP season, I’m coming off an MVP season,” Manning said sitting across from Brady. “We met in a small town in Tennessee. I said, ‘Tom, let’s get together. Let’s go real under the radar. Don’t tell anyone we’re coming in.’ Tom flies in on Mr. Kraft’s plane – big, huge plane. I’m like, ‘That is not what I said! I said under the radar!’ That’s against the salary cap, too, by the way. I won’t get into that. But we played golf together, we lifted weights together, we threw routes together with these high school receivers. We took their phones away and we said, ‘If you tell anybody that Tom Brady and I are working out together, and that we’re friends, we’re going to kill all of you.'”

Manning and Brady have been in the spotlight together since the former Vol’s retirement from professional football nearly a decade ago. Brady was in attendance for Manning’s Pro Football Hall of Fame induction while Manning made a stop in New England for his rival on Wednesday night.
