Former Tennessee basketball player John Fulkerson enjoyed some TV time during the Vols’ postseason baseball game on Sunday evening in Knoxville.
After Tennessee left fielder Kavares Tears sent a ball towering over the right field fence for a three-run home run in the sixth inning, SEC Network’s cameras panned over to the porch section in left field. The former Vol Hoops star was seen celebrating the Tears home with a State of Tennessee flag waving in hand.

Tears’ home run in the sixth inning put Tennessee up 5-3 on Southern Miss, which was then followed up by a Christian Moore RBI and a Dylan Dreiling solo home run to extend the Vols’ lead to 7-3.
Tennessee’s Dean Curley then sent a two-run shot over the fence in the seventh inning to put Tennessee ahead 9-3, recorded at the time of this publication.
A win over Southern Miss will clinch the Knoxville Regional championship for the Vols and send Tennessee to the Knoxville Super Regional next weekend. Tennessee leads 9-3 in the top of the seventh inning.
Fulkerson, a well-respected figure for the Tennessee fanbase as a Kingsport native, played forward for the Vols’ basketball team from 2016-2022. Fulkerson played 165 career games for Tennessee’s program, scoring 1,121 points in 3,192 minutes on the court.
Fulkerson holds the SEC and Tennessee record for most games played in a career and was a three-time selection to the SEC Community Service Team during his time on Rocky Top.
