So nice, it happened thrice.

The success of the Tennessee athletic program has easily passed the eye test in recent years with flourishment from the Vols’ various sports programs. But what’s really impressive is when the numbers and statistics prove the eye test right.

USA Today presented Tennessee with its third-straight SEC All-Sports title on Monday, marking the U.T. program as only the second team in SEC history to do so.

It was a race between Tennessee and Texas A&M for the right to claim the title of the SEC’s All-Sports program. The Vols finished as the top team in the men’s all-sports rankings and the second team in the women’s all-sports standings. The Aggies, on the other hand, finished second in the men’s standings and first in the women’s standings. Tennessee ultimately edged out Texas A&M, though, claiming back-to-back-to-back titles.

Tennessee’s SEC All-Sports titles correlate with the timing of Director of Athletics Danny White’s arrival on campus. After taking over the program in 2021, Tennessee has now won the title in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

“I am so proud of our exceptional student-athletes, coaches, and staff, as well as the unwavering support of our fans and donors here on Rocky Top,” White said in a statement. “Securing the SEC All-Sports Trophy for the third consecutive year is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved. As we press forward in our journey at Tennessee, this sustained competitive excellence ignites our determination to pursue even greater accomplishments!”

Here’s where things really get wild for Tennessee. According to UT Sports, Tennessee has won 12 SEC titles since the spring of 2021 after winning just two SEC Championships in the four years before White’s arrival.

Four of those SEC Championships came during the 2023-2024 athletics calendar. Tennessee Baseball, currently gearing up for the Knoxville Regionals this weekend, claimed two of those with an SEC regular season co-championship and an SEC Tournament championship in the last few weeks. Tennessee softball and Tennessee men’s basketball also claimed outright SEC regular season championships this spring.
