NFL Week 1 Odds: 2024 NFL Schedule Release Makes Way for Sportsbooks to Post Betting Odds

Sports fans will have to wait almost four months to cash their tickets, but there’s something to be said for getting some money down in the immediate aftermath of the NFL Week 1 odds being released. The NFL has unveiled its full schedule, and the top online sportsbooks have listed odds for games throughout the 2024-25 season, including all 16 games in Week 1.

The NFL Kickoff game is on Sept. 5, and as has become tradition, the reigning Super Bowl champion will play host to that contest. In this case, that means QB Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will play under the bright lights on opening night. Their opponent will be the Baltimore Ravens — a rematch of last season’s AFC championship game.

Let’s take a closer look at all of the NFL Week 1 Odds.

NFL Week 1 Odds: Chiefs open as short favorites over Ravens

It was the Ravens who earned the No. 1 seed for the AFC playoffs last season, but the Chiefs stormed into Baltimore and stole the win in the conference title game to reach the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five seasons.

The opening point spread for the 2024 season opener is one of the more noteworthy numbers of the entire first weekend. Depending on where you look, you might get the Chiefs at less than a field goal over the Ravens.

Oddsmakers at BetMGM Sportsbook, and Bet365 Sportsbook have the Chiefs listed as 2.5-point favorites. Kansas City is favored by 3 points at DraftKings Sportsbook, at FanDuel Sportsbook, and at Caesars Sportsbook. 21+ only (18+ in KY). Gambling Problem? Call or text 1-800-GAMBLER.

Because the games are so far away, this is a great time to shop for the best line in favor of the side you prefer. The total for Chiefs vs. Ravens varies, too. It’s 46.5 points on some betting apps and 47.5 points on others.

NFL Week 1 Odds: Eagles and 49ers Favored in other Primetime Games

Football fans get a special treat in Week 1 this year with a Friday night game on Sept. 6 when the Green Bay Packers face the Philadelphia Eagles in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Philadelphia is a 1.5-point favorite across the board, which is a testament to how the teams finished last season. Both teams made the playoffs, but the Packers were on the rise and defeated Dallas in the Wild Card Round, while the Eagles had long faded before getting trounced by Tampa Bay in the first round.

In the first Monday Night Football game of the season, the San Francisco 49ers play host to the New York Jets, who will hope to have QB Aaron Rodgers for more than four plays this time around.

If Rodgers remains healthy and is on top of his game, the Jets may be a good bet to cover the 6.5-point spread that favors the 49ers.

Elsewhere on the Week 1 schedule, there are four divisional matchups, including the Houston Texans visiting Indianapolis, where they have opened as 1.5-point favorites over the Colts.

The biggest favorites of the opening weekend, at least for now, are the Cincinnati Bengals and the Buffalo Bills.

Buffalo is favored by 7 points over visiting Arizona, which, at first glance, seems like a points to lay for a team that didn’t show much ambition to improve during the offseason. The Cardinals, on the other hand, should have a fully healthy Kyler Murray at QB and rookie WR Marvin Harrison Jr.

The Bengals being favored by 9 points over New England does seem fitting. QB Joe Burrow should be back and healthy after missing the last part of last season with an injury. Cincinnati gets the Patriots at home while they roll out rookie QB Drake Maye or veteran Jacoby Brissett.

The highest total for NFL Week 1 is the Sunday Night Football game, in which the LA Rams will visit the Detroit Lions in a rematch of last season’s NFC Wild Card Game. Detroit is favored by 3.5 points, and the Over/Under is a whopping 51.5 points.
