Tennessee baseball has been selected as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. This is the second time in three years the Vols are the top seed in the tournament.

Therefore, Tennessee will host the NCAA Regional this weekend in Knoxville, and, if they win, will host an NCAA Super Regional.

Below are the teams in the Knoxville Regional:

  1. Tennessee (50-11)
  2. Southern Miss (41-18)
  3. Indiana (32-24-1)
  4. Northern Kentucky (35-22)

Southern Miss hosted Tennessee in the NCAA Super Regionals in 2023. But this time around, the Vols are hosting the Golden Eagles.

The Greenville Regional (ECU) is Knoxville’s corresponding Regional. Wake Forest was put in the Greenville Regional as the 2-seed. Therefore, if Wake and Tennessee win the Regional, they will face off in a Knoxville Super Regional. Of course, former Vol Chase Burns is Wake Forest’s best pitcher and led the nation in strikeouts this season by 30.

Tennessee was the top overall seed in the 2022 tournament as well. Two years ago, the Vols swept the Regional before losing the Super Regional to Notre Dame.

No No. 1 overall seed has won it all this century. Tennessee will aim to break that longstanding streak this year.
