Tennessee Baseball Selected as Regional Host in NCAA Baseball Tournament

Tennessee baseball has been selected as one of the 16 regional hosts in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The news comes as no surprise, as Tennessee will likely be revealed as the No. 1 overall seed during Monday’s selection show.

Tennessee’s opponents in the upcoming Knoxville Regional will be announced during Monday’s selection show as well.

The full list of the 16 regional hosts is below, in no particular order.

Tennessee Volunteers – Knoxville

Oregon State – Corvallis

Arkansas – Fayetteville

Texas A&M – College Station

Eastern Carolina – Greenville

Kentucky – Lexington

North Carolina – Chapel Hill

Clemson – Clemson

NC State – Raleigh

Florida State – Tallahassee

UC Santa Barbara – Santa Barbara

Oklahoma State – Stillwater

Oklahoma – Norman

Virginia – Charlottesville

Georgia – Athens

Arizona – Tucson

This marks the third time in four years and in the Tony Vitello era that Tennessee will host a Regional. If the Vols win the Regional, it will also be the third time Tennessee will host a Super Regional in the past four years and in the Vitello era.

The Vols enter the NCAA Tournament coming off an impressive week in Hoover in which they won the SEC Tournament. After losing their first game in the tournament to Vanderbilt on Wednesday, Tennessee reeled off four straight victories to claim its second SEC Tournament championship in three years.

Tennessee capped off the week with a 4-3 win over LSU on Sunday in front of a packed crowd in Hoover Met Stadium.

In D1Baseball.com’s latest Field of 64 projections on Sunday morning, Tennessee will host 2-seed UC Irvine, 3-seed Georgia Tech and 4-seed Jackson State in its Regional. Georgia Tech was the 3-seed in Tennessee’s regional in 2022 as well.

Mississippi State was the projected No. 16 overall seed in D1 Baseball’s latest projection. Therefore, if the Vols and Bulldogs were to win their Regionals, Tennessee would host Mississippi State in the Super Regional.
