Tennessee basketball announced the signing of Charlotte transfer wing Igor Milicic Jr. on Thursday morning. Milicic committed to Rick Barnes and the Vols early last week after taking visits to Tennessee, Baylor and Nebraska.
“We are excited Igor has decided to join the Volunteers. He is a talented player who has received excellent coaching throughout his career, both in college and in Europe, including learning from his father, Igor Sr., who is one of the best in the business,” Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes said in a statement. “A versatile competitor, Igor has an impressive, unique and polished skill set that we think will translate well to the SEC.
“He is a quality 3-point shooter and superb defensive rebounder with big-time upside. Igor possesses invaluable experience on the international level with the Polish National Team and he has improved every year as a collegian. We feel he will fit in well at Tennessee, both on and off the court.”

A 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward, Milicic played his freshman season at Virginia before transferring to Charlotte and playing two seasons for the 49ers. As a junior, Milicic averaged 12.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He was an efficient scorer, shooting 49% from the field and made 56 three-pointers at a 38% clip.
Milicic ranks as a near consensus four-star transfer. 247sports ranks Milicic as the No. 226 transfer this offseason, EvanMiya.com ranks Milicic as the No. 2o0 transfer and On3 ranks him the highest as the No. 119 player in the portal.
While Milicic 6-foot-10 height makes him seem like a true five-man, the Croatia native is a true stretch four who has the ability to play the three and the five-spot. Milicic will likely compete for a starting position at the four-spot and could also be a valuable and versatile threat off the bench.
The Charlotte power forward is Tennessee’s third transfer portal signee of the offseason joining Hofstra wing Darlinstone Dubar and Ohio State center Felix Okpara. Tennessee is still in pursuit of North Florida shooting guard Chaz Lanier who is one of the top players in the transfer portal this offseason.
