After being called up to Major League Baseball on Monday, VFL Jordan Beck’s first series in professional baseball is officially wrapped up.
Beck started all three games for the Rockies at left field for their series against the Marlins in Miami as Colorado was swept in the process. Still, though, there was encouragement from Beck’s debut.
Beck’s debut game on Tuesday night showed the promise that the rookie has been showing on the minor league circuit. Before the season even began, Beck was named the Rockies’ Spring Training MVP after posting a .370 average at the plate in 18 games.
The 38th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft began his career with a single to centerfield on his first big league swing. Beck had a foul-out in his next at-bat but bounced back with another single to center field in his third. While the former Vol struck out swinging in his final at-bat, Beck still posted an impressive 2-for-4 day in his first major league game.

The second game of Beck’s career on Wednesday evening in South Beach didn’t show the same patience that he did on Tuesday, striking out on three pitches in his first two trips to the plate. Beck worked a full court on his third at-bat, though, which led to a groundout at short.
Beck’s final game of the series on third featured three strikeouts on four pitches in his first three trips to the plate. The former Vol closed his first MLB series well, though, knocking a single past the third baseman for a single and advancing a runner into scoring position.
Jordan Beck started at left field for all three games of the series, posting a .273 batting average on 3-11 plate appearances against the Marlins. Beck is again set to start in left field for the Rockies’ upcoming series on Friday afternoon against Pittsburgh, his fourth start in four days/games.
