Tennessee baseball turned in its most impressive series of the season over the weekend going up to Kentucky and taking two out of three games over then-No. 3 Kentucky.
The Vols dropped the series opener on Friday night after things got away from them in a three-run Kentucky seventh inning. Tennessee responded in a major way on Saturday, scoring five runs before Kentucky recorded its first out of the game.
RHP Aaron Combs came out of the bullpen and shut down the Wildcats lineup while striking out seven batters in 4.2 scoreless innings during the 9-4 series evening victory.
Tennessee fell behind 6-2 in the series rubber match but came roaring back to earn a 13-11 victory as Christian Moore hit three home runs and Kavares Tears also hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the seventh inning.
Moore turned in his second straight stellar weekend, hitting nine-of-15 with four home runs, a double and nine RBIs.
Tony Vitello’s seventh Tennessee team is moving up the rankings after an impressive series victory. Here’s where they landed this week.
