Four-star class of 2025 center DeWayne Brown is announcing his college commitment on Saturday. Brown is deciding between a top two of Mississippi State and Tennessee. He is announcing at 6 p.m. ET on Instagram Live.
Brown is a 6-foot-9, 250-pound big man that ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 143 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Hoover native ranks as the No. 22 center in the country and the top player in the state of Alabama in the 2025 recruiting class.
The Vols are currently busy trying to complete their 2024-25 roster at this time. But as a class of 2025 recruit, Brown wouldn’t join Tennessee’s program until after the 2024-25 season.
A multitude of SEC schools recruited the old school, low post scoring big man. Brown took visits to Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State and Tennessee before deciding on a top two of the Vols and Bulldogs.

Brown visited Tennessee back in January for the Vols’ matchup against Vanderbilt. The January visit is Brown’s lone Tennessee visit. The four-star recruit has visited Mississippi State twice in 2024.
“I feel like it’s a pretty good match with my game,” Brown said of Tennessee following the visit.. “They like to play fast just like how I play in AAU and high school. And they play inside-out with Coach Barnes which I think is good.”
A Hoover High School standout, Brown helped lead the Bucs to a 30-3 record and a 7A AHSAA State Championship during his junior season.
Tennessee currently doesn’t have a commitment in the 2025 recruiting class but they have actively pursued Caleb Wilson, Shon Abaev, EJ Walker and Aleks Alston while hosting all of them on visits to date.
Landing Brown would give Tennessee the No. 13 recruiting class early in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports team rankings.
