The Tennessee baseball career home run race is heating up. Junior second baseman Christian Moore entered the day just one home run behind Blake Burke for the program career record.

Burke added to his lead with a two-run home run in the third inning only for Moore to come flying back. The Vols’ second baseman hit a line drive homer to give Tennessee a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning.

Moore came back up the next inning and launched a no doubt three-run homer to the third deck of left field porches to tie Burke for a program record 42 career home runs.

Burke nearly reclaimed the lead in the next at-bat but the wind howling in from right field made his 113 mph exit velocity line drive a double off the wall instead of a solo home run.

Former Tennessee first baseman Luc Lipcius held the previous program record with 40 career home runs, outlasting teammate Evan Russell to claim the top spot during the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
