Tennessee football concluded its 2024 spring practice on Saturday afternoon with the Orange and White game in front of a limited crowd at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.
The Orange earned a 21-14 victory over the White with the offense scoring touchdowns on five of 14 drives over the course of the 90 minute scrimmage.
Tennessee quarterbacks Nico Iamaleava, Gaston Moore and Jake Merklinger all accounted for touchdowns in the afternoon scrimmage. Gaston Moore threw a 63 yard touchdown to Mike Matthews and Jake Merklinger connected with Chris Brazzell II for a 71 yard touchdown. Starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava also led a touchdown drive and connected with Chas Nimrod from 27 yards out.
“All in all today out there, handled the mechanics, the game-like situation extremely well,” Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said of his quarterbacks postgame. “Decisive, accurate for most of the day. A couple balls that were high in the middle of the football field. But all in all, I thought they handled themselves extremely well.”
After the game, RTI’s Ric Butler and Ryan Schumpert discussed all three quarterbacks making plays, Tennessee’s defensive line controlling the game and much more. Check out the RTI postgame reaction here.
