Tennessee football returns to Neyland Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the 2024 Orange-And-White Spring Game.
The scrimmage in front of a limited crowd of 10,000 fans will be the last time that fans get to watch Tennessee before the Vols open up their 2024 season against UTC.
But not every Tennessee player will be active for the spring game as the Vols have dealt with a number of injuries this spring. So who is for sure out and who could potentially be out? Taking a look here.
Almost Certainly Out
– Running Back Cameron Seldon
Seldon had shoulder surgery earlier in spring practice and has been in a sleeve ever since. Second year running backs DeSean Bishop and Khalifa Keith will get carries in his place.
– Running Back Peyton Lewis
Early enrollee running back Peyton Lewis has been limited all of spring practice and hasn’t been going through any drills since early in camp. It would be quite surprising if he played in the Orange-And-White Game.
– Cornerback Kaleb Beasley
The early enrollee freshman is out for the entirety of spring practice after suffering an injury early during spring practice.
– Receiver Bru McCoy
The super senior receiver is continuing to recover from the ankle injury that ended his season in early October. He’s done some things in spring practice but has mostly worked off to the side. It would be quite surprising if he played in the Orange-And-White Game.
– Offensive Guard Javontez Spraggins
Spraggins has been working off to the side the entirety of the open portions of practice this spring. It would be quite surprising if he played in the Orange-And-White Game.
– Offensive Guard Andre Karic
Karic is in the hunt to be Tennessee’s starting left guard next fall. He was sidelined for the back half of last season and has been working off to the side the entirety of the open portions of spring practice.
– Inside Linebacker Elijah Herrings
Herring has been working off to the side for the entirety of spring practice. It would be quite surprising if he played in the Orange-And-White Game.
– Defensive Back Christian Charles
The versatile defensive back Charles hasn’t been participating in drills during the open portion of practice at all thos spring. It would be quite surprising if he played in the Orange-And-White Game.
Also Could Possibly Be Inactive
– Linebacker Keenan Pili
Pili was fully active for the vast majority of spring practice after returning from the collarbone injury that sidelined him for the entirety of the 2023 season. But he did practice with a red non contact jersey on Thursday. It will be curious to see what all he foes on Saturday.
– Linebacker Arion Carter
Sophomore linebacker Arion Carter has gone through drills during the open portions of practice this spring but he hasn’t been in full pads at all this fall. I would be surprised if he plays in the Orange-And-White Game but we will see.
– LEO Josh Josephs
Junior edge rusher Josh Josephs has been working off to the side in the last few spring practices. I would be surprised if he plays in the Orange-And-White Game but we will see.
– Offensive Guard Jackson Lampley
The veteran Tennessee offensive guard has been working off the side the last few practices. We will see if he suits up on Saturday.
– Center Cooper Mays
Tennessee’s returning All-SEC center has been somewhat in-and-out of working this spring as he looks to manage reps and avoid injuries. Even if Mays does suit up on Saturday, it’s hard to imagine him playing a ton of snaps.
– Receiver Braylon Staley
Early enrollee receiver Braylon Staley was one of the players I was most excited to watch in the spring game but then he wasn’t on the practice field during the open portions of practice this week. We will see if he suits up on Saturday.
– Receiver Nate Spillman
Nate Spillman has been working off to the side in the Vols’ last few spring practices. We will see if he suits up on Saturday.
