Women’s Final Four Iowa vs. UConn odds: Clark battles Bueckers
Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes made it all the way to the championship game last season, but ultimately fell short against Angel Reese and LSU. But last week, Iowa was able to avenge that loss with an Elite Eight win over LSU to advance to the Final Four. Now, the Hawkeyes are looking to capture their first national championship in program history.
But before they can do that, Iowa must first take care of Paige Bueckers and the UConn Huskies. That is no easy task, as Bueckers is playing at an elite level, averaging 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists per game in the tournament thus far.
Oddsmakers are favoring the Hawkeyes, but not by much. Iowa is a slight 2.5-point favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, with moneyline odds of -148. As 2.5-point underdogs, UConn has moneyline odds of +124. The total, or over/under, is listed at 162.5.
Bueckers has been able to lead the way in the tournament so far, but can UConn get enough depth scoring to keep up with the Hawkeyes? The Huskies have dealt with a plethora of injuries all season long, and they are going to need role players to step up in a big way if they want to take down Iowa.
Iowa is scoring 91.9 points per game this season, which is tops in the country. But UConn’s defense has been solid all year, allowing just 56.8 points per game. Geno Auriemma has the Huskies in the Final Four for the 23rd time, and if any coach can dial up an effective game plan to limit Clark and the Hawkeyes, it’s Auriemma.
Iowa came out of the gate absolutely on fire in the first half against LSU, but look for Auriemma’s defensive game plan to prevent that from happening again. On offense, UConn may look to slow the pace and control the clock early on, preventing Iowa from getting into a shooting rhythm. With that in mind, consider taking the First Half Under 78.5 in this one.
