Tennessee basketball fought tooth and nail to the finish line in its 72-66 season ending loss against Purdue on Sunday afternoon.
The Vols jumped out to a double-digit first half lead but Purdue ended the first half on a 15-2 run which gave them a two-point lead at halftime.
Tennessee took a brief lead early in the second half but Purdue quickly reclaimed it and the Vols were never able to get over the hump the rest of the way.
Dalton Knecht carried the Vols’ offense for 37 points and six made triples in the loss while Purdue’s Zach Edey carried the Boilermakers with 40 points and 14 made free throws in the win.
Purdue’s Fletcher Loyer was the game’s only other player to score double-digits in the Elite Eight matchup.
