(1) Purdue will take on (2) Tennessee in the Elite Eight on Sunday afternoon in Detroit with a spot in the 2024 Final Four on the line.

The Boilermakers reached the Elite Eight with a win over (5) Gonzaga on Friday night while Tennessee advanced to the fourth round with a win over (3) Creighton on the same night. While Purdue and Tennessee have battled the choker title from the media and fans over the last few years, both teams will have an opportunity to silence their doubters with a trip to Phoenix following a win.

Sunday’s battle will also feature two of the top stars in the nation as Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht and Purdue’s Zach Edey make up two of the four Naismith Player of the Year finalists.

Ahead of the game coming up on Sunday, Purdue basketball head coach Matt Painter met with the media in Detroit to talk about several topics around the game. Painter talked about Purdue’s ability to get the ball inside to Edey, putting pressure on Knecht and Zeigler, specific thoughts from the previous meeting between the two programs, and much more. Additionally, Purdue also had guard Braden Smith, guard Lance Jones, guard Fletcher Loyer, and center Zach Edey speak with the media inside Little Caesars Arena.

Purdue and Tennessee will square off at 2:20 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon in Detroit.
