Wednesday was a big day for Tennessee football as the Vols took to Neyland Stadium for their first scrimmage of spring practice before returning to the Anderson Training Center for Pro Day.
But fourth-year coach Josh Heupel found a little bit of time in between the two events to make his way over to Pratt Pavilion to spend some time with Rick Barnes and the Tennessee basketball team before they left for Detroit and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Heupel has been a supporter of the Tennessee basketball team throughout the season. He’s been in attendance at a number of games at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center this season, bringing recruits to multiple games and sitting with Grant Williams at another.
The Vols’ football coach also traveled across the Volunteer State and was in the building when Tennessee basketball knocked off Vanderbilt 75-62 at Memorial Gymnasium back in late January. Following the game, Heupel made his way to the bowels of Memorial Gymnasium to talk to Barnes and the Volunteer basketball team.
Barnes and the Tennessee basketball team are back in the Sweet 16 for the second straight season where they’ll face off against three-seed Creighton on Friday night at approximately 10:15 p.m. ET at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
If the Vols can make it past Creighton, they’ll face the winner of one-seed Purdue and five-seed Gonzaga in the Elite Eight for the chance to advance to the first Final Four in program history.
Tennessee football is approaching a break in spring practice around Easter weekend. The Vols will return to the practice field early next week and conclude spring practice with the Orange-And-White game on Saturday, April 13.
