Tennessee baseball earned its first SEC series win over the weekend by taking two out of three games over Ole Miss in a home series at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
The Vols earned a pair of run-rule wins bookending a heartbreaking late inning loss against the Rebels in the Saturday matchup.
Tennessee’s vaunted offense was dominant over the weekend, scoring 35 runs over the course of the three games. Seven of the Vols’ nine starters hit over .300 over the course of the weekend with redshirt sophomore outfielder Kavares Tears leading the way. Tears hit seven-of-11 over the course of the weekend with two home runs, a double and four RBIs.
The Vols’ middle infield brought plenty of power with second baseman Christian Moore hitting three home runs and shortstop Dean Curley hitting a pair of home runs.
There was bad news on the mound for Tennessee this week with AJ Russell exiting the Saturday game with an injury just a week after returning from injury.
But despite the injury, it was a strong 3-1 week for Tony Vitello’s squad. Let’s see where they landed in the rankings.
