Eighth-ranked Tennessee baseball (18-3, 1-2 SEC) is set to battle Xavier (9-11) in Knoxville for a Tuesday evening midweek contest in Knoxville.

The Vols enter the matchup coming off of an SEC-opening series loss to Alabama in Tuscaloosa, their first series loss of the season. The Vols blew out the Tide in the series opener on Friday, 11-3, but lost the next two games 6-3 and 7-6, respectively.
As for Xavier, the Musketeers are coming off of a series loss to Indiana State. Xavier has lost series to LSU and Clemson this year, but the Musketeers do own a pair of midweek wins over Power Five opponents Louisville and Cincinnati.
Saturday’s loss to Alabama snapped a 17-game winning streak for the Vols, as Tennessee entered SEC play having swept series over UAlbany, Bowling Green and Illinois along with a notable midweek win over Kansas State.
Tennessee has not lost a midweek contest this season, though it does have a pair of one-run wins over UNC Asheville and Southern Indiana.
