Tennessee is heading to the Midwest Region as a two-seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, as announced by the CBS Sports Selection Show on Sunday evening.
The Vols closed down the 2023-2024 season as the SEC regular season champions but were bounced early from the SEC Tournament this past week in Nashville.
The Volunteers now turn their attention to Detroit.
Two-seed Tennessee will take on 15-seed Saint Peter’s in the first round from Charlotte, North Carolina, with a potential second-round matchup against either 7-seed Texas, 10-seed Virginia, or 10-seed Colorado State. Other notable teams in the Midwest Region include 1-seed Purdue, 3-seed Creighton, 4-seed Kansas, 6-seed South Carolina, and 7-seed Texas.
Just minutes after finding out their path in the upcoming tournament, Tennessee had senior guard Santiago Vescovi and sophomore forward Tobe Awaka meet with the media to discuss their reactions to the selection. Both guys talked about bouncing back from their SEC Tournament loss, their thoughts on Saint Peter’s in the first round, Zakai Zeigler’s chance to play against his brother in Charlotte, and much more.
