Tennessee basketball’s NCAA Tournament first round matchup against Saint Peter’s will tip off at 9:20 p.m. ET on Thursday. TNT will broadcast the matchup.
The Vols earned the top two-seed in the NCAA Tournament, landing in Midwest Region after posting a 24-8 (14-4 SEC) record to this point in the season. Tennessee won the SEC Regular Season Championship outright and proved to be the highest seeded team from the SEC in the NCAA Tournament.
Saint Peter’s returns to the NCAA Tournament just two short years after they upset two-seed Kentucky in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. The Peacocks posted a 19-13 (12-8 MAAC) record and finished tied for third in the MAAC regular season before winning the conference tournament.
The Peacocks played two big six opponents this season, suffering an 11-point loss in their season opener at Seton Hall and a 31-point loss at Rutgers. Neither the Pirates nor the Scarlett Knights made the NCAA Tournament.

Playing in Charlotte, North Carolina the opening weekend of the tournament, Tennessee plays on Thursday and again on Saturday if they get past the Peacocks. The Vols could face one of three teams in the Round of 32. Texas is the seven-seed and Colorado State and Virginia are 10-seeds playing in a First Four.
If Tennessee makes it out of the first weekend of the tournament they would play one of Akron, Creighton, South Carolina or Oregon in the Sweet 16. That matchup would be on Friday, March 29 in Detroit, Michigan.
But first, Tennessee looks to get past St. Peter’s in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at xx p.m. ET on Thursday.
