Tennessee basketball knows its NCAA Tournament fate.
The Vols are the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region after posting a 24-8 (14-4 SEC) record in the regular season plus its lone game in the regular season. Tennessee will face 15-seed Saint Peter’s in the first round of the tournament. If they advance, they’ll face the winner of seven-seed Texas and 10-seed play in Virginia/Colorado State in the Round of 32.
Rick Barnes’ ninth Tennessee team will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. They’ll travel to Detroit, Michigan in the second weekend of the tournament if the Vols win their first two games.
Other top seeds in the Midwest Region include No. 1 seed Purdue, No. 3 seed Creighton , No. 4 seed Kansas, No. 5 seed Gonzaga and No. 6 seed South Carolina.

Tennessee enters the NCAA Tournament as the highest seeded SEC team after winning the SEC Regular Season Championship outright. However, the Vols are entering the Big Dance on a slide. Tennessee dropped its regular season finale against Kentucky and played it worst game of the season in a SEC Tournament loss against Mississippi State.
The Vols are in the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight season under head coach Rick Barnes. Tennessee won six games in the previous five tournaments with two trips to the Sweet 16, two losses in the Round of 32 and one first round loss.
Tennessee is looking to bounce back from two straight poor performances and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament after a strong regular season. The tournament hasn’t announced the tipoff time or broadcast details for the opening round matchup between Tennessee and Saint Peter’s.
