The fourth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers are officially the 2023-2024 SEC regular-season champions after a 66-59 win over No. 17 South Carolina on Wednesday night in Columbia.
Wednesday’s championship represents the Vols’ first outright SEC regular season title since the 2008 season as Tennessee checks off one of their season goals en route to the postseason.
Tennessee was led by their veteran players against the Gamecocks, with Dalton Knecht scoring 26, Jonas Aidoo with 14, Zakai Zeigler with 12, and strong defensive performances from Josiah-Jordan James and Santiago Vescovi.
While there’s still more that this Tennessee team wants to accomplish in the postseason, the exhale of joy was evident to see as the team headed off the court in Columbia.
