With a pair of press conferences in Knoxville on Monday morning, Tennessee officially introduced and welcomed in their two new assistant coaches, one on each side of the ball.

Former Washington assistant William Inge will be taking over Tennessee’s linebackers unit while former Cincinnati assistant De’Rail Sims will be leading the Vols’ running backs’ unit. The Vols lost former LB coach Brian Jean-Mary and former RB coach Jerry Mack this past February after both spent three years on Rocky Top.

Excitement was in the air as Inge and Sims began their introductory press conferences, with each coach detailing a little bit about how they ended up in Knoxville with head coach Josh Heupel. Inge spoke about the whirlwind of time from the National Championship game to taking the Tennessee job and what all went into that while Sims spoke about his desire to coach in the Southeastern Conference while rising up through the various ranks of the college football world.

Both coaches also spoke about the players that will be inside their own room. Inge noted his familiarity with Keenan Pili after trying to recruit him last off-season while Sims noted the strengths of Dylan Sampson and the running backs room.

Linebackers coach William Inge, running backs coach De’Rail Sims, and the Tennessee football team are set to begin spring practice later in March with the Vols’ annual Orange & White game coming up on April 13.
