Game Line: Tennessee-Alabama Basketball Game Opens As Pick’em

Tennessee basketball’s primetime matchup against Alabama opened as a pick’em according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under is set a 166.5.

*Alabama has moved all the way to three-point favorites as of Friday night at 9:30 p.m. ET.

The Vols and Crimson Tide have been two of the SEC’s best teams in recent seasons and the two schools have split their last six matchups in the series with Tennessee last winning in Tuscaloosa in 2020. Analytical based college basketball website KenPom projects Alabama to earn an 85-84 victory of the Vols.

This meeting between Tennessee and Alabama is perhaps the biggest game in the history of the rivalry. Fourth-ranked Tennessee and 14th-ranked Alabama are tied atop the SEC standings with three games left in the regular season and Saturday’s matchup in Tuscaloosa is almost a de facto SEC Championship game.

Both the Vols and Crimson Tide have challenging at least one challenging game left in the final week of the regular season. Tennessee travels to South Carolina and hosts Kentucky while Alabama travels to Florida and hosts Arkansas. So it’s possible for whoever loses to at least earn a share of the title.

Saturday’s matchup is the second meeting between Tennessee and Alabama this season. The Vols dominated Alabama in Knoxville in mid January, earning a 91-71 victory behind big performances from Dalton Knecht and Jonas Aidoo.

The basketball rivalry is the game of the weekend in college basketball and ESPN’s College GameDay is coming to Tuscaloosa for the matchup with major repercussions.

Tennessee’s matchup at Alabama marks just the third time that they haven’t been favorites this season and the first time since its loss at North Carolina in late November when they were slight underdogs

Tipoff between Tennessee and Alabama is at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday night at Coleman Coliseum. Dan Shulman, Jay Bilas and Jess Sims are on the call for ESPN.
