No. 4 Tennessee will face off against No. 11 Auburn this Wednesday night in Knoxville for a critical SEC matchup.
Tennessee and Alabama are tied at the top spot in the conference heading into the midweek slate while Auburn and South Carolina are tied for the next spot down.
The Vols have rattled off four straight wins after a loss at Texas A&M with victories over Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and Texas A&M, handling business where they needed to. Auburn, on the other hand, is 3-2 with a back-and-forth win-loss record over those five games. The Tigers beat Alabama, lost to Florida, beat South Carolina, lost to Kentucky, and most recently beat Georgia heading into the game in Knoxville.
Wednesday’s game will be a tough, gritty contest between two good teams. A key for Tennessee will be to throw off Auburn’s guard play in a challenging road environment and see how that impacts the Tigers’ overall offense, led by stellar junior forward Johni Broome.
Ahead of the game on Wednesday night, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and forward Jonas Aidoo met with the media for a quick preview. Both talked about Broome’s impact on the game, the mindset of the team with four games remaining in the season, and much more.
No. 4 Tennessee will host No. 11 Auburn at 7:00 p.m. ET from the Food City Center on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
