Tennessee basketball avenged its loss in College Station two weeks ago by dominating Texas A&M 86-51 on Saturday night in Knoxville.

The game was tight for the first 15 minutes before Tennessee took control of the game with a 25-8 run in the nine minutes around the intermission. Tennessee never looked back from there putting it on the Aggies in a dominant performance.

Tennessee was led by a three-headed weapon on Saturday with Jonas Aidoo, Dalton Knecht, and Zakai Zeigler.

Aidoo finished the game with a double-double (18 points, 14 rebounds), Knecht led all scorers in the game with 24 points, and Zakai Zeigler finished just short of Tennessee’s second triple-double in program history with nine points, nine rebounds, and 14 assists in 36 minutes of action on the court.

“You could tell he had just great focus the last couple days getting ready,” head coach Rick Barnes said about Zeigler after the game. “He is a guy that impacts the game. If he makes shots, that is one thing, but him getting into the lane really spraying it the way he did and collapsing the defense and then giving guys the chance to catch it on the run and do some things. He is just invaluable with what he does. What can you say about a guy on the court getting nine rebounds like that? Yet he is distributing the ball the way he did. He is a special player.”

The Vols’ win over Texas A&M on Saturday night in Knoxville is good for Tennessee’s 21st win of the season and 11th win in conference play with four to go. The win also represented the 800th career victory for Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes.
