New Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan is adding a University of Tennessee flare to his first coaching staff in Nashville. Callahan plans on tabbing former Tennessee quarterback Bo Hardegree as the Titans’ new quarterback’s coach, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported.

Hardegree brings multiple years of NFL coaching experience to the Titans. He spent the past two seasons as the Las Vegas’ Raider quarterback’s coach and was their interim offensive coordinator after the franchise fired head coach Josh McDaniels in the middle of the season.

The Jackson, Tennessee native also had coaching stints with the Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Bears and Broncos. Now in Nashville, Hardegree will work closely with former Kentucky quarterback Will Levis. Levis had a solid rookie season for the Titans after the franchise drafted him in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

A Jackson Central-Merry standout, Hardegree signed with Tennessee football in the 2004 signing class. A three-star recruit coming out of high school, Hardegree spent the 2004-07 seasons on Tennessee’s roster but never played.

Hardegree came to Knoxville as part of the same signing class as quarterbacks Brent Schaeffer and Erik Ainge. The duo split starting duties early in the 2004 season before Ainge won the job.

Ainge went on to be Tennessee’s starting quarterback throughout the rest of Hardegree’s college career while Schaeffer transferred to a junior college for a season before ending up at Ole Miss.

Now after a journeyman assistant coaching career, the west Tennessee native is back in the Volunteer State with the Tennessee Titans.
