RTI Instant Reaction: Tennessee Earns Rivalry Win At Kentucky

Tennessee basketball bounced back from its midweek loss at South Carolina by knocking off No. 10 Kentucky 103-92 at Rupp Arena on Saturday night.

Zakai Zeigler hit a triple on the game’s first possession and he was off and the Vols were off and rolling from their. Kentucky made a number of pushes throughout the game but Tennessee withheld them all and never trailed.

After a poor performance on Tuesday, Zeigler played perhaps the best game of his career. The junior point guard scored 26 points (eight-of-11 FG), 13 assists and three steals.

“Tonight I thought he went through a stretch a little bit where he was trying to do a little bit too much, but overall I thought he was terrific,” Rick Barnes said of Zeigler.

Super senior wing Josiah-Jordan James broke out of his SEC play slump with a career-high 26 points including a number of crucial buckets as Tennessee withheld multiple Kentucky runs.
