No. 5 Tennessee fell to South Carolina by a score of 63-59 on Tuesday night in Knoxville to mark their second loss of the conference slate.

The Vols looked discombobulated throughout the entire game, particularly from an offensive perspective. Veteran guard Dalton Knecht found his scoring on the night with 31 big points, nearly half of Tennessee’s total offensive output. Aside from Knecht, though, Santiago Vescovi scored 10 and no one else scored more than six.

Tennessee struggled with South Carolina’s pacing throughout the contest as the Vols never truly sunk into the flow of the game. The biggest issue for Tennessee on Tuesday, though, was shots around the rim and free throws. Tennessee missed several shots at the basket on Tuesday and went 12-of-20 from the free throw line.

After the game, South Carolina head coach Lamont Paris spoke to the media and Knoxville. Paris said that the Gamecocks are lucky to leave Knoxville with a win as he broke down the play style that led to a victory on Tuesday. Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes followed Paris and spoke about the Vols’ offensive struggles.

Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht and Santiago Vescovi also spoke to the media after the game.
