Class of 2025 quarterback George MacIntyre is the latest commit to the Tennessee Football recruiting class and marks a landmark piece that the Vols can build the class around.

MacIntyre, a five-star prospect in 247’s composite rankings, committed to Tennessee on Monday morning with a touching video recalling his childhood days spent as a Tennessee fan. While the video was heartwarming and moving, MacIntyre’s play on the field is precise and strong.

The 6-foot-6, 182-pound quarterback is a tall pocket pocket-passing quarterback who wants to use his arm but can use his legs when needed. MacIntyre has a huge arm and can spin the ball around the field while hitting windows for receivers. Similar to Tennessee freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava, MacIntyre will put on some more weight and muscle to fill his frame once he gets with the program, but the potential is there nonetheless.

“High-upside quarterback prospect with a franchise-worthy frame, college-level arm and fluid pocket movements,” 247 Director of Scouting Andrew Ivens wrote in September. “On the skinnier side, but is over 6-foot-5 and is likely going to fill out some more once he’s done with basketball. Possesses a cleaner stroke and can drive the football 50-plus yards. Shows touch on deep shots and will use trajectory to his advantage.”

MacIntyre is listed as the No. 3 quarterback in the class according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings.

As a junior at Nashville’s Brentwood Academy during the 2023 season, MacIntyre threw for 3,229 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions on 285-of-423 passing (67.3 percent). MacIntyre also ran in three touchdowns during the season.

George MacIntyre is the sixth commit to Tennessee’s 2025 class and is the highest-ranked of the six. MacIntyre’s commitment to Tennessee gives head coach Josh Heupel a legitimate quarterback to build around as the Vols already have a commitment from four-star tight end Jack VanDorselaer.
