Josh Heupel and Tennessee football made a major recruiting splash on Monday morning when five-star quarterback George MacIntyre committed to the Vols.
A five-star recruit, MacIntyre ranks as the No. 15 player and No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Brentwood Academy standout also ranks as the top player in the state of Tennessee.
The blue-chip quarterback is a two-sport star, playing basketball and football for the Eagles. He becomes Tennessee’s highest rated commit in its 2025 recruiting class and is the second five-star quarterback commit of Josh Heupel’s tenure.
MacIntyre announced his commitment in a ceremony at Brentwood Academy and released a commitment video right after making his announcement.

The video includes clips of the Volunteer State native as a kid wearing a Tennessee shirts, hat and even a basketball jersey.
“There’s always been one place close to my heart,” MacIntyre said while narrating the video. “It’s where I learned about family and faith and it’s where I was born to play football.”
MacIntyre goes on to talk about how he felt called to play at Tennessee and why his decision felt like more than just a college commitment.
“From Nashville to Knoxville. From the Mississippi (River) to the Smokies, there’s just something special about Tennessee. This isn’t a decision. It’s a calling. And Volunteers answer the call. Rocky Top, I’m staying home.”
