Tennessee football target George MacIntyre is set to officially announce his collegiate commitment imminently.

The 6-foot-6, 182-pound quarterback ranks as a five-star prospect and the No. 15 player in the class of 2025, the No. 3 quarterback in the nation, and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee according to 247 Composite’s ranking.

More from RTI: Blue-Chip Offensive Tackle Visiting Tennessee Football This Weekend
Tennessee is trending in the right direction and has gained a good bit of momentum throughout the last week.
The uptick toward Tennessee picked up steam when Alabama lost former head coach Nick Saban to retirement. While MacIntyre wasn’t committed to the Crimson Tide, the impact of Saban’s retirement has been widespread across Alabama’s recruiting and roster management. Tennessee was squarely in the driver’s seat after that.
MacIntyre received three predictions for Tennessee this week from 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, Vandy247 publisher Robbie Weinstein, and 247Sports recruiting analyst Matt Zenitz.
The class of 2025 prospect was also seen sitting with Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel during the Vols’ basketball game against Alabama on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville. Rick Barnes’ squad decimated the Crimson Tide by a score of 91-71 at the Food City Center to help energize a big football recruiting weekend.

Tennessee and Heupel look to be in a very solid position for the talented in-state prospect on the eve of MacIntyre’s commitment.
“High-upside quarterback prospect with a franchise-worthy frame, college-level arm and fluid pocket movements,” 247 Director of Scouting Andrew Ivens wrote about MacIntyre in September. “On the skinnier side, but is over 6-foot-5 and is likely going to fill out some more once he’s done with basketball. Possesses a cleaner stroke and can drive the football 50-plus yards. Shows touch on deep shots and will use trajectory to his advantage. Shouldn’t be viewed as a true dual-threat talent, but is elusive in the face of pressure and will slip/spin away from trouble.”
George’s uncle, Mike MacIntyre, is the head coach at FIU and was previously the Colorado head coach from 2012 to 2018. Additionally, George’s late grandfather, George MacIntyre, was a head coach at both UT Martin and Vanderbilt during the 70s and 80s.
Tennessee’s 2025 class currently has five commitments led by four-star tight end Jack VanDorselaer. The Vols also have commitments from three-star CB Tyler Redmond, three-star CB Shamar Arnoux, three-star RB Justin Baker, and three-star CB Dylan Lewis. While still early in the cycle, Tennessee’s 2025 class ranks No. 13 in 247 Sports’s rankings.
