Stanford defensive line transfer Jaxson Moi committed to Tennessee football on Sunday afternoon coming off his weekend visit to Knoxville. The California native chose the Vols over Washington.

Moi becomes Tennessee’s eight transfer commit of the offseason and its second transfer commit of the day after landing LSU offensive tackle Lance Heard earlier Sunday afternoon.

A rising junior with three years of eligibility to play two seasons, Moi’s totaled 37 tackles, one sack and three pass deflections in his collegiate career. The Oceanside, California native has been a major factor on Stanford’s defensive line for each of the last two seasons.

Playing in 12 games for Stanford in 2023, Moi earned a 60.3 PFF grade. While he graded out better against the run, he also totaled 10 quarterback hurries. For comparison, Moi’s PFF grade would have ranked as Tennessee’s ninth best defensive lineman and fourth best defensive tackle last season.

At 6-foot-2, 303-pounds, Moi brings serious versatility to Tennessee. Moi started most of his 12 games at defensive tackle for Stanford last season but he also played nose tackle and strongside defensive end for the Cardinal.

Where Moi fits into Tennessee’s defensive tackle rotation is currently unclear. The Vols return a number of rotation defensive linemen from last season including Omari Thomas, Bryson Eason, Omarr-Norman Lott, Daevin Hobbs and potentially Elijah Simmons.

But Moi having two years of eligibility remaining is crucial with a number of those players out of eligibility following the 2024 season.

  1. This is terribly written. Please tell me somehow not getting paid for this grammatical and factual garbage. To wit, “three years of eligibility two play two seasons.” WTF is that??? Also, love how an article about a DEFENSIVE LINEMAN goes on to state that “the Oceanside, California native has been a major factor on Stanford’s offensive line for each of the last two seasons.” Clean this trash up guys, come on!
