Former Tennessee cornerback Brandon Turnage announced that he will be transferring to Ole Miss on Friday night.

Turnage is a second-time transfer player. The Oxford, Mississippi, native spent the first two years of his collegiate career at Alabama before playing on Rocky Top for three seasons. Turnage entered the portal on Jan. 4 and emerged as an Ole Miss Rebel just over two weeks later.

While he was never a full-season starting cornerback for the Vols, the 6-foot-1 defensive back played in 31 games during his time at Tennessee and racked up 48 total tackles, three tackles for loss, six pass deflections, and one interception. Turnage’s most productive year came during the 2021 season while the most he played was the past season in 2023.

Turnage is the third Tennessee defensive player to commit to Ole Miss out of the transfer portal but looks to be the only one actually going.

Former Tennessee defensive back Tamarion McDonald and defensive lineman Tyler Baron both originally committed to Ole Miss but wound up flipping to Louisville. McDonald and Baron will be reuniting with former Vol defensive back Wesley Walker with the Cardinals.

The Rebels burst out of the gate as one of the hottest teams in the transfer portal landscape but have slightly cooled off since. Lane Kiffin’s program ranks second behind Texas A&M in the 247 Sports portal rankings and ranks third in the On3 Sports portal rankings behind Louisville and Colorado.
