Five-star quarterback George MacIntyre is announcing his college commitment on Monday, Jan. 22, he announced on Friday afternoon.

The Nashville native is deciding between a top group of schools that includes Alabama, Clemson, Michigan, LSU and Tennessee.

MacIntyre ranks as a five-star recruit and ranks as the No. 15 player and No. 3 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. The blue-chip quarterback also ranks as the top player in the state of Tennessee in the 2025 class.

While he’s deciding amongst a group of five high-level programs, Alabama, LSU and Tennessee are the three schools that have garnered the most interest from the Nashville area prospects. MacIntyre has taken six visits to Alabama, five visits to Tennessee and four visits to LSU since the beginning of his recruitment.

All six trips to Alabama came before legendary head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement. New coach Kalen Deboer has since re-offered MacIntyre but his upcoming commitment makes it unlikely that he’ll land at Alabama.

The Brentwood Academy standout comes from a football family. His grandfather, George, was the head coach at Vanderbilt in the late ’70s and early ’80s and his uncle Mike is the head coach at Florida International and previously served as head coach at Colorado.

Tennessee football’s 2025 recruiting class currently contains five commits. Adding MacIntyre to the mix would be a huge early win for Josh Heupel and his staff. The Vols’ 2025 recruiting class currently ranks No. 12 nationally and a commitment from MacIntyre would boost it to No. 9 according to the 247sports team rankings.
